How to replace the gripper rubbers on the SideWinder and SideWinder Evolution. Gripper rubbers will last around 70 openings, under normal circumstances.
1. When grippers are worn and need replacing, here’s how its done.
Important! Do not disassemble the gripper assembly.
2. Remove the old rubber from the grippers.
3. Making sure to remove rubber from behind the outer tube.
4. If you depress the gripper you should be able to see a small gap.
5. Remove the paper backing from one of the spare rubbers.
Position the new rubber, slightly overlapping the outer tube.
6. Gently depress the gripper finger and using a small piece of plastic or similar, tuck the edge of the rubber under the outer tube.
7. Fold the remaining rubber around the leg of the gripper and press firmly into place and repeat the process with the other gripper.
